Overview

A ready-to-wear brand sells clothes in fixed sizes, made in small batches by local tailors and sold mostly online. It is different from bespoke tailoring: buyers skip the measurements and fittings, they simply order and receive. Young professionals and fashion-conscious shoppers in Nigerian cities buy ready-to-wear for work, outings and events, and many are happy to back a local brand with a clear style.

You make money on the markup between what each piece costs to produce and what you sell it for, released in collections or drops. The main risk is unsold stock: money tied up in sizes and colours nobody wanted. Uneven quality from tailors and a size chart that does not fit also hurt repeat sales. It suits someone with a good eye for style who is organised enough to manage production, photos and online selling.

Works well in Lagos, Abuja (FCT), Port Harcourt, Aba, Enugu, Ibadan
