Overview
An exam-prep centre runs small classes that get secondary school students ready for WAEC, NECO and JAMB. Parents pay because these results decide university admission, and many feel school alone is not enough, especially in English, Mathematics and the sciences. Demand builds every year from around January until the exams, and parents talk to each other about which centre gets results.
You charge a fee per student, and your main costs are the venue and part-time tutors. The harder part is not finding students but keeping standards: weak tutors or outdated past questions quickly damage your name, because results are your advertising. Most of the income also comes in one season of the year. It suits a teacher or graduate who explains things well, keeps order in a class and can work evenings and weekends.
